Congratulations! You're engaged and about to start planning one of the biggest events in your life. Your wedding day! So what do you need to do to book me as your celebrant and start the legal process?
1. Contact...
First of all, head over to my Contact page to get in touch and find out if I have your wedding date available. Give me as many details as possible so I can give you an accurate price quote for your ceremony. For example, do you just want to do the legal bits with your two witnesses, or are you having lots of guests for the full shebang wedding? Is it going to be around Perth, down in the south west, up in Broome (my bags are packed!) or out in the Wheatbelt. Once you've done that, here's what happens next.
2. Chat…
I like to make a time to meet before you book. This is your chance to tell me all about your wedding plans, ask me any questions, and make sure that I’m the right celebrant for you. We can meet in my Mount Lawley home office or at a coffee shop/bar that's convenient for both of us or you might like to a video chat - everything's possible, just ask. Being a full time celebrant I can meet you any day of the week up until 7pm or at various times over the weekend.
3. Book…
Hopefully we connect and you decide to go ahead and book. I’ll email you a Client Service Agreement and will let you know how to secure your wedding date by paying the $200 booking fee. We'll also start the legal process by completing the Notice of Intended Marriage form, which is the form any couple marrying in Australia must lodge with their celebrant. From that point on, the date is yours and you're on your way to getting married!
4. Plan…
Two months out from your big day I will send you an invitation for a video chat so that we can discuss absolutely EVERYTHING about your ceremony including what the ceremony itself might look like and logistics for the day.
I will also ask you some questions. Most will be easy but some will go a little deeper to help me understand you both as individuals and as a couple, like When did you meet and where? What first attracted you to your partner? What do you love about your partner now? When and where was the proposal? What it is you value about your relationship? Why you want to spend the rest of your lives together?
You don't have to share everything with me, just what you're comfortable with.
If you need help to get started on writing your personal vows, this is the time to ask me to send you some samples and ideas. I can also suggest songs if you can't decide what to have for your ceremony, along with readings or other things that will make your ceremony ALL ABOUT YOU!
5. Write…
Using everything you’ve told me, I will put pen to paper (actually I'll click the keys) and start writing your bespoke wedding ceremony. When I send you the first draft to read through, I encourage you to add or change things in it until you’re 100% happy. What is written in your ceremony script is what I will say on the day - no surprises!
6. Rehearsal...
Most couples choose to rehearse their ceremony in the week leading up to the big day. This is the time where we will make sure everyone knows where they need to walk from and stand, how to use the mic, and when to bring the rings. I'll also give you tips about how to put the rings on and the 'first kiss' so your photographer gets the perfect shot!
If you decide not to have a rehearsal, we'll either meet or do a video/phone chat, to talk through your ceremony from start to finish and I'll answer any questions that you still have.
7. Marry…
Your wedding day will be here before you know it. On the day, I’ll arrive at least 30 minutes (usually earlier) to ensure your ceremony runs without a hitch! I use this time to liaise with the venue, photographer/videographer, wedding planner/coordinator (if you have one) and everyone in the wedding party and your guests.
And finally, I’ll deliver an awesome, authentic and personal ceremony that will kick off your celebrations in the best possible way!
So if you'd like to get started, fill out the Contact info page or give me a call, I'd love to hear from you!
